Take charge with treatment tailored to Equine needs.

Regular faecal egg count (FEC) testing with FECPAKG2 enables you and your vet to improve the health and performance of your horses and tailor parasite treatment at an individual horse level.

FECPAKG2 enables you to take control of your own FEC testing. Alternatively, it provides vet clinics with a fully auditable, image based system to conduct FEC testing on your samples.

Major impact for Equine health

Behind nutrition, parasites are one of the most significant issues impacting horse health and performance in grazing environments. The management of parasites on horse properties can be challenging, expensive and time consuming. Anthelmintic (drench) resistance in horses can result in unnecessary treatments and less-than-optimal health.

FECPAKG2 make an invisible problem visible and more intuitive to manage by replacing the traditional microscope-based parasite testing method with an internet connected, image based system.

Tailor your horses’ treatment programme

The innovative FECPAKG2 diagnostic platform makes faecal egg count (FEC) testing easier and faster to do virtually anywhere, by anyone.

Making FEC testing easy to do on-site helps equine managers develop the right treatment programme for valuable individual animals.

Simple, on site parasite testing

  • The ease of use of FECPAKG2 means that an equine manager does not need to also be a lab technician. With a little practice, anyone can carry out a test with FECPAKG2.
  • Can be used by anyone, anywhere you have a flat surface, water and a power outlet, and then, or at a later stage, an internet connection to send the images off for analysis.
  • Sending information by internet frees you from transporting faeces to town, an especially useful thing for those in more remote locations.
  • It also provides faster results, often within an hour, so that you can modify that day’s treatment programme accordingly.
  • The associated management software future assists you by helping you plan your treatment by season and receive automated reminders.

Evidence-based to avoid anthelmintic resistance in horses

Validation of FECPAKG2 in horses has been undertaken by Aberystwyth University who stated in their report:

FECPAKG2 represents the next generation faecal egg counting for the horse sector. FECPAKG2 will offer an overall parasite management system for horses that promises to bring worming practice into the 21st century.

There are also currently two PhD students working with FECPAKG2 in horses at Berlin University in Germany and Aberystwyth University in Wales.

Used in multiple countries

FECPAKG2 is helping equine managers and farmers improve their animals’ health and performance in many countries around the world, from Australia and New Zealand to Pakistan, South Africa, the United States and Wales.
